The fundraising in aid of Bomet County teachers’ trip to the Coast will be held today at Kilimanjaro Hotel in Kaplong Town, Sotik Sub-county, as the team intensifies preparations for the 2026 national games organized by the Kenya National Teachers Sports Association (KNTSA) in Malindi.

Bomet KUPPET Chairman Emmanuel Ngeno has called on well-wishers, education stakeholders and members of the public to turn up in large numbers and support the team ahead of the tournament scheduled for April 13 to April 17 at Malindi High School.

“We welcome all friends of education officials, sports lovers and well-wishers to stand with our teachers as they prepare to represent Bomet county at the national level. This is a teachers’ initiative that depends on goodwill and collective responsibility to succeed,” said Ngeno.

According to Bomet KUPPET Branch Secretary Secondary Nicodemus Ngeno, the county will field a 26-man squad that has been training consistently at Chepkosiom Grounds in Sotik sub-county. The team has also organized friendly matches to fine-tune tactics and build team chemistry.

“Our preparations have been smooth and the players are in good shape. The technical bench is satisfied with the progress so far, and morale is high,” he said.

Bomet has been placed in Group C alongside Lamu, Kitui and Nyandarua. Officials acknowledge the competitiveness of the group but remain confident in the team’s ability to advance beyond the preliminary stages.

The county is aiming to improve on last year’s performance in Machakos, where Bomet reached the quarter-finals before being eliminated by eventual champions Bungoma. Lessons from that campaign have helped the team strengthen its approach as it heads to Malindi determined to make a strong statement.

The games provide teachers with a platform to nurture talent, promote unity and strengthen networks beyond the classroom, with Bomet ready to represent the county with pride.
