Teachers across Kenya set for 2026 sports bonanza in Malindi

The 2026 Kenya National Teachers Sports Association (KNTSA) Games are set to kick off at Malindi High School from April 13 to April 17, bringing together educators from every corner of Kenya for a week of thrilling competition, camaraderie, and celebration of sporting talent.

The last edition of the games was held in Machakos County, where teachers showcased exceptional skill and sportsmanship, setting a high standard for this year’s tournament.

According to the pooling released by organisers, Turkana are in Group A and will face Kilifi, Marsabit, and Migori in the opening round of matches. Other groups have been carefully drawn to ensure competitive balance.

Group B features Laikipia, Kwale, Makueni, and Kisii; Group C includes Bomet, Lamu, Kitui, and Nyandarua; Group D comprises Nakuru, Taita Taveta, Nairobi, and Murang’a; Group E has Kajiado, Bungoma, Kisumu, and Nyeri; Group F brings together Trans Nzoia, Mombasa, Siaya, and Vihiga; Group G is made up of Kericho, Tana River, Machakos, Nyamira, and Kakamega; while Group H includes Baringo, Tharaka Nithi, Homa Bay, Embu, and West Pokot.

The games are giving teachers an opportunity to demonstrate their versatility and competitive spirit.

Beyond the matches, the tournament is an important platform for networking, fostering unity, and promoting healthy rivalry among educators from diverse backgrounds.

According to the tournament organisers, the games are not just about sport; they are a celebration of the discipline, dedication and contribution of teachers to Kenya’s development.

“These games highlight the hard work and resilience of teachers, while encouraging teamwork and sportsmanship,” he said.

As the tournament progresses, teams will compete not only for glory on the field but also for awards recognizing the best performers and outstanding individuals.

Fans can expect exciting clashes, particularly from traditionally strong teams like Nairobi, Kisumu and Mombasa, as well as emerging talents from counties like Turkana and Kilifi.
