Barongo, Njeru land higher positions at the Education Ministry

Two senior education officers have been appointed on promotion to take up new roles at the Ministry of Education (MoE) to replace the retired ones Education News has learned.

Stephen Barongo who before his appointment and deployment was managing education affairs at the Western region office as Regional Director of Education has been appointed as the new Director for Basic Education replacing Ms. Nereah Olick.

Olick retired and officially left office in June 2023 after attaining her retirement age.

On the other hand, Emis Njeru is now the new Director for Early Childhood Development Education, replacing Moriasi Gari who also retired.

Earlier on Gari served as the Central Deputy Regional Director before being elevated to the position of Director ECDE.

Njeru served in the Ministry’s ECDE department before being seconded to the National Council for Nomadic Education of Kenya (NACONEK) where she served as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
