Teachers in Narok county have called for the appointment of a competent person to represent Persons with Disability (PWD) at the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) board.

Speaking in Narok County, Kenya Union of Special Needs Education Teachers (KUSNET) Secretary General James Torome urged the panel appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta to ensure an educationist get the slot.
“As per our constitution, all  commissions must have a representative of persons with disabilities. As a union representing teachers who are dealing with special needs learners, we
want someone who is not only living with disabilities but is also qualified,” said Torome.

Torome asked the panel to focus on an all-round person.
On June 26, President Uhuru selected a panel of nine technocrats to oversee the appointment of TSC commissioners to replace those whose term expired on March 9.

The panelists included Mary Gatum, Charles Mutinda, Njoki Kahiga, Margaret Geneo,Richard Kibagendi, Hélène Misenda, Eva Nyoike and Stanley Waudo.

The panel is set to select new commissioners to replace Beatrice Adu, Mbarak Twahir, Kinoti Imanyara, Albert Ekirapa and Tache Gollo.
