Most Public Secondary schools in Kakamega County posted impressive results in the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
According to the spot check done by the Education News, schools most recorded improved mean score and quality grade as well.
Such schools were;St Peters Seminary Mukumu , the school topped Kakamega East Sub County in three consecutive years, recording improved mean of 8.3 from last year’s 7.6, transiting 57 out of 58 candidates to University.
In Mumias East sub county, St. Stephen Kamashia dominated the top of table of KCSE for the second time after recording a mean of 7.4 with more than a half of the students qualifying to join university.
The School principal Charles Omukuba said that as a team they have celebrated the results and promised to work hard with all stakeholders to see that the school maintains its upward trajectory in academics.
In Mumias West, Mumias Muslim Boys posted an improved mean grade, sending 16 students to university after years of dry spell.

The school principal Asman Osieko observed that the school has capacity to perform even better when given necessary support from stakeholders, adding that they recorded improved mean of 4.9 with positive deviation of 0.39.
The school was ranked position 10 in the the whole County
At St Charles Lwanga Mukumu, the school principal Christopher Wesonga said that they have gone back to the drawing board to establish the real problem and come up resolutions to reverse the trend. This come after the school recorded unpleasing results. He however noted that they are going to change the table for this year
