You have 30 days to file complaints regarding 2023 KCSE results, KNEC says

KNEC Chairperson Prof. Julius Nyabundi speaks during a past graduation ceremony.

The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has directed Kenyans with complaints regarding the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination results to file them within 30 days, as stipulated in the KNEC Act.

This was announced today by KNEC Chairperson Prof. Julius Nyabundi at Moi Girls High School in Eldoret during the release of the 2023 KCSE examination results of 903,260 candidates who sat for the national test.

Prof. Nyabundi further asked those with grievances regarding KCSE examinations to file them within the next four years, after which KCSE exams will be halted as the country fully adopts the CBC curriculum.

“Anybody who has pending examination matters should take the opportunity that the Council has extended to them within the next four years. Similarly, as we are releasing examination results today, there is a provision in the KNEC Act that if anybody has any issues with the results, you have 30 days to engage KNEC to get any corrections or any necessary clarifications,” he announced.

At the same time, KNEC CEO Dr. David Njengere announced that registration of candidates for KPSEA and KCSE examinations will commence on January 29, 2024, and run for two months up to March 29, 2024.

He urged all schools to properly utilize the two-month window as the Council will not extend the registration process.

“Please note that there will be no late registration this year. We are not going to extend the registration period even by a day,” Njengere warned.
