Barely a week after being sworn in, as Governor of Wajir County to replace his predecessor Mohamed Abdi whose impeachment by Wajir County MCAs was confirmed by the Senate, Governor Ahmed Muktar, made a cabinet reshuffle moving Ibrahim Mohamed from education to be the finance CECM.
Ibrahim said from the education docket has been replaced by Hussein Sugow who had hardly served one month in the health docket where he was appointed by the impeached former governor.
Hitting the ground running, Ibrahim said his priority will be ensuring that more children in Wajir County attend Early Childhood Development Education (ECD) classes.
He said he intends to double the current enrolment of 17,622 since ECDE is the foundation of education.
Yusuf Abdi has been moved from ICT to agriculture and was replaced at ICT by Ahmed Sharif who had been holding trade docket.
Governor Muktar who has received support from most elected Wajir leaders said he made these changes to ensure smooth running of county operations.
On the other hand the impeached governor Mohamud Abdi who has been supported by the Council of Governors, read alleged malice in the Senate ruling and accused the Senate of failing to set standards on what amounts to gross violation of the constitution because Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru charged with similar alleged violations was acquitted.
