The Bungoma County government is upgrading Vocational Training Centers (VTC) in all the 10 Sub-counties.

the Bungoma County Executive Committee Member of Education (CECM) Betty Mayeku, told Education News that Wekelekha (Vocational Training Center) VTC and Muteremko have already been upgraded.

The county intends to build VTC centers that will help to impact technical skills to the youth for self-employed.

“Candidates who failed to secure a chance to join university or tertiary colleges will have opportunities of joining VTCs across the county,” she noted.

Sossio Vocational Training Center in Kimilili Sub-County received Sh15 million to facilitate its upgrading and buying training equipment.

“All centers have enough instructors to train our youths who have flocked the institutions to seek for technical skills,” she affirmed.

The county government pays Sh10, 000 for every student who joins the VTC centers.

The CEC said that the county received equipment worth Sh8 million from Netherlands which was distributed to various VTC centers.
