Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Kisii branch Executive Secretary Omari Otungu has advised the teaching fraternity in Kisii County to continue observing the Covid -19 protocols since the pandemic isn’t over.

Speaking at Kisii town, Otungu regretted that some teachers and students had stopped wearing face masks immediately after the lifting of the curfew by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“The lifting of the curfew does not imply that the pandemic is over. We all need to continue observing all the Covid-19 health protocals.”He cautioned.

The unionist mourned the fallen deputy Principal of Nyanko secondary school, the late Zachariah Nyamweya, who succumbed to Covid-19 complications.

He sent his condolences to his family and the staff at his former school.

The late Nyamweya left behind a widow, Madam Carren Ombati, the deputy principal of Nyamomena   secondary school in Kisii county, and three children.
