The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has warned teachers and the public against a fake circular circulating on social media purporting to announce the discontinuation of the deployment of serving primary school teachers to secondary and junior secondary schools.
The Commission said the document is fake and does not represent an official TSC communication. In a notice, TSC urged members of the public to disregard the circular, describing the information contained in it as misleading. “The information is not only misleading but fake,” the Commission said.
The warning comes after a circular dated September 8, 2026, and purportedly signed by Acting TSC Chief Executive Officer Evaleen Mitei, began circulating online. The fake document claimed that TSC had immediately terminated the deployment process for serving primary school teachers holding diploma and degree qualifications to secondary and junior secondary schools. It further purported to cancel applications verified during a March 2026 exercise and nullify pending deployment applications, shortlists and processing lists.

However, TSC has now clarified that the circular should not be relied upon, effectively dismissing the claims contained in the document. The Commission urged teachers to verify information on deployment, recruitment, promotions and other official matters through its authorised communication channels. TSC specifically directed the public to rely on its official Facebook page, TSC Kenya, and its official X account, @TSC_KE, for accurate and verified information.

The warning highlights the growing concern over the circulation of fake government documents on social media, particularly those relating to employment and career opportunities for teachers. Teachers have been advised to exercise caution before sharing or acting on circulars and announcements whose authenticity has not been confirmed through official TSC channels.
