2,192 teachers have been trained and deployed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to teach in Junior Secondary Schools (JSSs) in the Coast region.
The regional TSC Director Mrs. Victoria Muoka who spoke to Education News just before her transfer confirmed ongoing training of recruited teachers in the area while some have already been posted.
Mrs. Muoka who will now be the Nairobi Regional Director noted that the teachers have been distributed in the region’s six counties as follows;
- Kilifi County – 824 teachers
- Kwale County – 571 teachers
- Taita Taveta County – 274 teachers
- Mombasa County – 200 teachers
- Tana River County – 192 teachers
- Lamu County – 131 teachers
The Director called on parents to take all their JSS children to school, now that adequate teachers have been deployed and asked teachers to ensure they offer quality mentorship and education to the children.
She further urged education stakeholders to support development of education in the region.
