Speeding car kills two Mbita Boys students, injures three

Five students from Mbita Boys High School were hit by a speeding private car near the ICIPE junction.

In a heartbreaking incident that unfolded just minutes ago in Mbita Town, five students from Mbita Boys High School were struck by a speeding private car near the ICIPE junction.

The students, who were walking home after the closure of the school for the April holidays, were hit by a vehicle while walking on foot near the ICIPE fence.

The car’s driver, who witnesses say appeared to be intoxicated, was allegedly speeding when he lost control and collided with the students.

Two of the students have tragically died, while three others have been seriously injured, including a boda boda rider who was also knocked down.

The injured students have been rushed to Homa Bay County Level 5 Hospital for immediate medical attention. The families of the two deceased students are in mourning as the community grapples with this tragic event.

Residents and Kenyans have expressed their shock and condolences to the affected families through social media as this devastating accident casts a shadow over the festive season.

The community remains in shock as it awaits more details on the incident, while calls for safer roads and stricter traffic law enforcement continue to grow.
