Students, parents, and staff at Sirakaru S.A. Secondary School were all smiles on Monday as they received a brand-new school bus, courtesy of Tongaren Constituency MP John Chikati. The major boost to education marks a new chapter for the institution.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, MP Chikati said, “The promise was made — and the covenant has now been fulfilled,” highlighting his commitment to reviving the school’s former excellence and helping it regain its competitive edge among top-performing schools.
A Major Education Milestone for Sirakaru
The donation of the bus, funded through the Tongaren NG-CDF, is expected to ease transportation challenges for students.
It will also improve attendance and create opportunities for participation in extracurricular activities and competitions.
In a further boost to learners, MP Chikati also handed out bursary cheques to all successful applicants, aimed at reducing the financial burden on parents and ensuring students can access Education without hindrance.

School administrators welcomed the move, describing it as a “game-changer” for the institution. The principal said the support from the MP and the NG-CDF would enhance both academic and co-curricular participation.
The gesture underscores MP Chikati’s ongoing efforts to strengthen educational infrastructure and support for students across Tongaren, reaffirming his pledge to empower the youth and improve learning outcomes.
