Games patrons and coaches at Riokindo High school in Kenyenya sub county, Kisii county have started training their school teams in preparation of this year’s term two ball games.

The Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) had earlier instructed that schools are supposed to finish their sub zonal meetings for soccer, volleyball, basketball, netball and rugby by May 26, 2023.

Area KSSSA Secretary Walter Ontweka reminded coaches to train their teams early and avoid contracting non-students to play for them.

“Let us believe in our students and train them to be good players instead of borrowing football mercenaries for false glory in our schools,” he said.

Kenyenya Secondary school will host the sub county ball matches which will consist of qualifying teams from Magena, Magenche and Kenyenya zones.

Nduru Boys’ High school from South Mugirango constituency will host county ball games while Maranda Boys from Kisumu will host regional ball matches on June 24 and July 22 respectively.

He noted that the national games will be held at Kakamega High school.

National level qualifiers will proceed to the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Associations (FEASSSA) games scheduled to take place in Kigali, Rwanda in August.
