Shanderema, St. Anthony shine in preliminary matches of the KSSSA national games

It was a thrilling start at the kick-off in KSSSA National Football Games at Kakamega on Tuesday as 20 goals were ecstatically netted in the opening matches.

This has set the stage for an intense tournament and exciting competition for the subsequent days of the tourney.

Pool A action was very captivating, with Shanderema making a daunting statement in their opening match against Eastern Champions Khorof Harar.

The newbies Shanderema showcased their aptitude, clinching a commanding 8-0 victory.

Forward Maxwell Wamalwa emerged as a standout performer, securing a remarkable hat-trick with three goals to his name.

Kelly Madada also made his mark on the score sheet, contributing to the emphatic win that set the bar high for the competition ahead.

In pool B, St. Anthony Kitale demonstrated their dominance by securing a resounding 8-0 victory over Eastern Region Champions Matiliku.

Aldrine Kibet and Stanley Waswa led the charge with remarkable performances, each scoring twice in the memorable win.

The goal spree also saw contributions from David Wekesa, Junior Gregory, Alvin Kasavuli, and Joseph Omuse, solidifying St. Anthony’s triumphant start to the tournament.

Finalists from this event will book a slot for the Federation of East Africa Secondary School Sports Association games (FEASSSA) that will be held in Rwanda.

The 20th edition of the tournament is scheduled for August 17-27 2023.

Day 1 – Tuesday, August 8 (Preliminaries):

10:00 a.m: Shanderema 8-0 Khorof Harar (Boys Pool A)

3:30 p.m: St. Anthony 8-0 Matiliku (Boys Pool B)

10:00 a.m: Agoro Sare 2-1 Kirangari (Boys Pool A)

3:30 p.m: Dagoretti High 1-0 Serani (Boys Pool B)

Day 2 – Wednesday, August 9 (Preliminaries):

10:30 a.m: Kirangari vs Khorof Harar (Boys Pool B)

10:30 a.m: Shanderema vs Agoro Sare (Boys Pool B)

3:00 p.m: St. Anthony vs Serani (Boys Pool A)

3:00 p.m: Dagoretti High vs Matiliku (Boys Pool A)

Day 3 – Thursday, August 10 (Preliminaries):

10:30 a.m: Agoro Sare vs Khorof Harar (Boys Pool A)

10:30 a.m: Kirangari vs Shanderema (Boys Pool A)

11:00 a.m: St. Anthony vs Dagoretti High (Boys Pool B)

11:00 a.m: Matiliku vs Serani (Boys Pool B)

Day 4 – Friday, August 11 (Semi-Finals):

9:00 a.m: Winner Pool A vs Runner-Up Pool B

9:00 a.m: Winner Pool B vs Runner-Up Pool A

Day 5 – Saturday, August 12 (Finals & Play-Offs):

8:00 a.m: Pool A Loser Semi-Final 1 vs Pool B Loser Semi-Final 2
