Sh160m to revamp KMTC Busia Campus

By Godfrey Wamalwa

Busia County Governor Sospeter Ojaamong has set a target of Sh160million to revamp the Kenya Medical Training College Busia Campus to required standards by December this year.
Addressing the third Open Day for the Campus, the Governor said his Government will donate Sh80 million to help improve existing facilities at the college.
“I will also call a stakeholder’s meeting to prevail upon the eight Members of Parliament including the Woman Representative to contribute Sh10m each from their NG-CDF and Affirmative Action kitty to raise a further Sh80m,”he added.
The Governor said his Government spends over 30 per cent of the budget on the health sector, but it is not enough to meet the sector’s demand since over Sh1.5b is used to pay salaries.
KMTC Deputy Director (Finance and Administration) John Anyira said the campuses are found in 44 counties, with only three counties without a campus.
The Principal, Dominic Ndombi said the college had a total enrolment of 250 students.
