Head teachers of various schools in Migori County have been urged to make impromptu visits to the institutions to ensure that they are secure.
Rongo Education Sub- County Director Mr. Dancun Odhiambo urged school heads to keep a close eye on the institutions.
He warned them not to take advantage of the pandemic to run their businesses while keeping the security of the learning at bay.
“The pandemic has affected economy negatively thus the rise of insecurity within the Sub-County. Some would even wish to break into schools and steal some of the items,” said Odhiambo.
He reminded the school heads that their presence in the institution was important despite the fact that some have hired security officers.
He said they are collecting data on the damages caused by rain and floods in public learning institutions which also requires the assistance of school heads.
