By Enock Okong’o

Health Principal Secretary Mrs Susan Mochache has lauded the old pupils of Nyaura DEB Primary School in Kisii County for coming together to give the school a face lift.

“I am very proud to be associated with this community because this is where I was born.” She said.

She added that a society without quality education was exposed to poverty and ridicule from other communities.

She thanked the residents of Nyaura for starting the school with the aim of equipping the African child with sustainable education.

Narrating with nostalgia how she learned at the school in bare feet, Mochache equated the school to an old mother who should not be neglected by her children at an old age.

“This is our mother school and that is why we decided to join hands to renew it. We have already raised Sh2 Million seed money for the school,” She said.

She revealed that the old pupils of the school had scheduled a main fundraiser for the school on

5th December 2021.

She added that her group had taken the move to respond to the current needs of the new

Competency Based Curriculum which include enough and spacious classrooms.

She asked members of the Board of Management in schools to be transparent and accountable in the management of public resources.
