Professor Julius Ogeng’o has been appointed the acting University of Nairobi Vice-Chancellor as incumbent Prof. Stephen Kiama proceeds on leave.
According to a Memo from the University Council seen by Education News, Prof. Kiama had requested the University Council to allow him to proceed on a six Month leave which has been approved.
“This is to inform you that the council of the University of Nairobi, during its special meeting on 31st July 2023, approved the vice chancellor’s request dated 28th July 2023, to proceed on leave for a period of six months with effect from 1st August 2023.” read the memo in part.
In the absence of the Vice Chancellor the Council appointed Prof. Ogeng’o to discharge the duties of the office of the Vice Chancellor in an acting capacity.
The changes take effect from 1st August, 2023 according to the communication made by the Corporate Affairs Director at the office of the Vice Chancellor, John Orindi.
