Parents warned against hiding disabled children

By John Majau

Politicians and head teachers in Meru County have cautioned Kenyans against hiding special needs children at home.
The leaders advised them to instead enroll them in schools to pursue education and nurture their talents.
They unanimously called on all Kenyans to ensure that the special needs children are brought out in the public where they can get financial, moral and spiritual support.
Abothuguci West MCA Patrick Muthuri and area Kenya Primary School Head teachers Association (KEPSHA) Chairman Godfrey Ndubi noted that it is wrong and unconstitutional to lock such children at home.
The MCA promised to donate half of his salary to education projects in the area in an attempt to improve performance in the national examination.
Muthuri said the gesture is meant to motivate, encourage and give candidates courage to face the national examination without the fear of failure.
