Paralympics team from Kericho departs for France

A team comprising of 10 participants (7 visually and physically challenged athletes and three guides) from Kericho county will represent the country in various disciplines during the upcoming Paralympic track and field meet organized by the World Para Athletics sub-committee of the International Paralympic Committee.

The athletes will be representing Kenya in the 2023 World Para Athletics Championships to be held in Paris, France on from July 8 to 17.

Speaking at the county headquarters while seeing off the team, CECM in charge of Sports Daniel Rop who was flanked by his Chief Officer Mr. Geoffrey Bett, assured the athletes of the government’s commitment to support them to fly the country’s flag high in the global athletics arena.

“I want to assure our athletes of maximum support from the government as they embark on this honourable journey of representing the country,” said Rop.

Others present during the flagging off ceremony were Chief Officer in the Executive Office of the Governor Alphonse Rotich, Chief of Staff Edgar Towett, Director for Sports Charles Ngerechi and other government officials.
