Nyawita secondary students in peaceful demo to protest missed end term results

  By Erick Nyayiera

Students of Nyawita Secondary school in Bondo sub-county held a peaceful demonstration after the school administration failed to give them their end term results.

The students who carried twigs thronged Bondo- Siaya road chanting slogans while demanding the release of their report forms which the school had failed to produce despite the day being the official closing date.

It took the intervention of the Bondo sub- County security team lead by the area Deputy County Commissioner Mr Richard Karani accompanied by armed police officers to send the students back to school before addressing them.

Siaya County Director of Education,Mr Nelson Sifuna who made a quick stop at the school shortly after the students had returned to school addressed them and promised to ensure the issue is solved so that the students can get their progress report forms before schools reopen.

He blamed the unfortunate incident on a section of Board of Management teachers who had allegedly refused to give out the results due to non-payment of their dues by the school management.

The County Director noted that he will call for a board meeting with the teachers to find out ways of addressing the situation to avoid future occurrences of such misbehavior.
