The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has deployed more than 294,000 invigilators, supervisors and centre managers to oversee the national assessments, the commission said at the national assessment flag-off in Mavoko Sub-County, Machakos County, on October 26, 2026.
TSC put the total at 295,091 personnel. It said the team includes 207,973 invigilators, 43,606 supervisors and 43,040 centre managers. They are responsible for making sure that candidates sit the assessments under the required conditions and that procedures are followed.
Acting Director of Staffing Dr Samwel Marigat represented TSC Acting Chief Executive Officer Dr Evaleen Mitei at the event, which brought together officials from the Ministry of Education and the commission.
Assessments covered
The deployment covers the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA), the Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment (KILEA), the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) and the Kenya Pre-Vocational Level Education Assessment (KPLEA).
Mitei reaffirmed the commission's commitment to supporting the exercise and urged all participating agencies to carry out their duties with integrity, vigilance and professionalism.
Teacher internship recruitment
Away from the assessments, prospective teachers are looking to TSC for information on the next recruitment, particularly internship positions for newly qualified teachers. Interest has grown among job seekers hoping for placements in primary and junior schools.
A specific opening date for the next internship application window has not been confirmed, according to the information available. Applicants should rely on official TSC announcements for the number of vacancies, subject requirements, application procedures, deadlines and the distribution of posts across counties and schools.
TSC's recruitment process is free of charge. Applicants should avoid anyone who demands money in return for promised internship placements or employment.
