Tension has erupted at Kigari Teachers Training College (TTC) after a server reportedly crashed in the middle of the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) summative examination for Christian Religious Education (CRE), leaving trainees unable to complete the paper.
According to some students, the technical hitch occurred while they were sitting the examination, disrupting the process and denying them an opportunity to finish.
The affected trainees expressed frustration over what they termed as poor preparation and unreliable internet connectivity, saying the incident had subjected them to unnecessary academic pressure.

Some students further claimed that they had experienced persistent internet problems in the past few days, which they say affected their ability to sit and complete several units.

They alleged that the connectivity problems had already contributed to poor performance in a number of units, with some claiming they had failed examinations because of internet disruptions.
The latest incident has reportedly heightened tensions within the institution, with students demanding an explanation from the administration and urgent intervention to address the technical challenges.
However, instead of immediately addressing the students' concerns, the college administration reportedly called in police officers to prevent a possible strike and contain the growing tension.

The move is said to have further angered some of the trainees, who felt that their academic concerns should have been given priority over the deployment of security officers.

The Runguru Ngandori Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) visited the college following reports of the examination disruption and growing discontent among the students.
The trainees are now calling on the relevant authorities, including KNEC and the Ministry of Education, to investigate the incident, establish what caused the server failure and ensure that all affected candidates are given a fair opportunity to complete their examination.
