Pwani University has revised its 2026/2027 academic calendar, with lectures set to resume on November 2, 2026, following adjustments approved by the university Senate.
In an internal memo dated October 30, 2026, the Registrar in charge of Academic and Student Affairs, Dr Leonard Kiti Alii, said the changes were meant to recover lost teaching time while accommodating preparations for the 2027 General Election.
The revised calendar sets new dates for lectures, examinations and field attachment in both the first and second semesters.

First-semester lectures will run from November 2 to December 9, 2026, and end-of-semester examinations will run from December 10 to December 22, 2026.

The university has also scheduled its 14th graduation ceremony for November 26, 2026, during the ongoing first semester.
Students will go on Christmas and New Year break from December 22 and report back on January 4, 2027, for the second semester.
The second semester will run from January 4 to March 19, 2027, with end-of-semester examinations from March 22 to April 2, 2027.
Continuous assessment tests (CATs) for the semester have also been scheduled. The first CAT will run from February 15 to 19, 2027, and the second from March 8 to 12, 2027.

The revised programme provides for field attachment and teaching practice from April 5 to July 30, 2027.

The Senate said the adjustments were necessary to ensure that academic activities proceed smoothly despite changes to the university's original programme. Dr Alii urged all staff and students to adhere strictly to the revised timelines to allow effective implementation of academic activities.
The memo was circulated to all staff and students, with copies sent to the Vice-Chancellor and Deputy Vice-Chancellors.
