Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Principal Secretary Dr Esther Muoria has urged principals of TVET institutions to allow students with disabilities to take an active part in co-curricular activities such as sports and games, so that they can explore and nurture their talents.
TVET Director in charge of Administration Joyce Mwale read Dr Muoria's speech on her behalf at Nyandarua National Polytechnic during the official opening of the KATTI National Season 3 Ball Games.
She said TVET students with various disabilities can perform well in ball games and develop talents that may help them in their future careers.

Dr Muoria said the government, through the State Department for TVET, supports students with disabilities and provides an enabling environment for them to explore their talents through ball games and other co-curricular activities in TVET institutions across the country.

"We urge our KATTI principals, trainers, coaches and all stakeholders to ensure all TVET students who have disabilities participate in co-curricular activities from the institutional level, regional level and national level. They are our brothers and sisters who deserve support from the government, heads of TVET institutions and fellow students to nurture their sports talents," she said.
She also urged students with disabilities to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship and observe high standards of discipline during the competition.

KATTI National Chairman for Sports and Recreation, Idd Faraj, urged all TVET students to maintain high standards of discipline, embrace teamwork, and show respect during the ball games competitions.

The three-day KATTI Season 3 Ball Games are being held at Nyandarua National Polytechnic and at other venues in Nyandarua and Laikipia counties, including Nyahururu Stadium, Ol-Njororok Comprehensive School, Ahiti-Nyahururu and Laikipia University.
Nine KATTI regions are participating: Coast, Nairobi, Northern, South Rift, North Rift, Western, Lake, Mount Kenya East and Mount Kenya West.
