Igembe Central MP Dan Kiili has promised to ensure all learners of school-going age are enrolled in a learning institution despite their economic or social status in the community.
He said he is committed to improving the education standards in Igembe Central constituency in order to enhance the economic and social status of the residents.
The MP also distributed food supplies to all secondary schools across the entire constituency before the kickoff of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations set to begin this Monday.
Speaking at Kiengu Secondary School while distributing the goodies, MP Kiili said the foodstuff will be shared among all students for a seamless learning process.
He said the food is meant specifically for candidates who will be doing the national examination from this Monday.
"The foodstuff will be distributed to all the learning institutions across the entire constituency to ensure no learner drop out of school due to lack of food. The candidates sitting for their national examination are like my kinsmen after I visited them in their respective learning institutions in the constituency. That is why I have ensured they have enough food to eat while doing their national examination. Nobody will be left out during the feeding program," said MP Kiili.
The MP said he paid the entire school fees for all the candidates in the area at the start of the year before holding a consultative meeting with all the principals in the constituency.
He said he is committed to improving the education standards in Igembe Central constituency in order to enhance the economic and social status of the residents.
"Am concerned that some learners from the humble background might be forced to drop out of school due to lack of food or cash to purchase it. Although I had paid the entire school fees for all the candidates when the schools opened during the start of the year, some may drop out owing to the current economic situation. I also held a consultative meeting with all the principals in the constituency meant to chart the way forward," he said.
Kiili urged Igembe Central sub-county administration to ensure the food is distributed equitably to all the KCSE candidates sitting for the national examination in the constituency.
