The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has resolved a technical discrepancy that affected the online submission of Grade 3 English assessments, allowing schools to access all five required tasks.
The problem arose after schools discovered that although the assessment contained five tasks, only four were displayed on the online submission portal, raising concerns about the completion of the assessment process.
In an update issued on Wednesday, October 14, KNEC said the discrepancy had been rectified, with all five tasks now available on the portal for schools to review and submit.
The council has advised schools to log into the system and confirm that all the required tasks are accessible before completing the submission process.
KNEC further clarified that schools that had already submitted their available tasks would not be required to enter them again, as previous submissions remain intact.
The resolution is expected to ease concerns among teachers and school administrators who rely on the online platform to submit learners’ assessment records under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
Schools have been urged to complete and submit the Grade 3 English assessment within the stipulated deadline and contact the council’s support team if they encounter any further difficulties.
Schools advised to contact KNEC for assistance
The council provided its support email as support@knec.ac.ke and helpdesk number as 020 222 2121 for schools requiring assistance.
The latest update comes as schools continue to undertake assessments under the CBC framework, which places emphasis on evaluating learners’ competencies through a range of tasks rather than relying solely on traditional examinations.
