The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) has announced the recruitment of 678 new staff members in a move expected to strengthen teaching, administration and support services across the institution.

The recruitment drive includes 200 Lecturer II positions, making the teaching category the largest component of the vacancies. Other positions advertised include lecturers in Clinical Medicine, Nursing, Orthopaedic and Trauma Medicine, Emergency Medical Technology, Community Health, Health Records and Information Technology, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Radiography and Imaging, Physiotherapy, Nutrition and Optometry. The vacancies also cover administrative and technical positions, including medical laboratory technologists, ICT officers, human resource officers, records management officers, maintenance staff, supply chain management officers and security personnel.

According to the advertisement, eligible candidates have been invited to submit their applications online through the KMTC recruitment portal, with applications closing on Friday, October 30, 2026. Applicants have been advised to carefully review the advertised qualifications and requirements before submitting their applications. The recruitment comes as KMTC continues to expand its capacity to train healthcare professionals. The College has previously stated that additional lecturers are needed to improve student-to-staff ratios and enhance the quality of training.

KMTC Board Chairperson Joseah Cheruiyot welcomed the recruitment programme, describing it as an important investment in the institution's human resource capacity and the future of Kenya's healthcare workforce. "The recruitment of 678 staff, including 200 lecturers, is a clear investment in our lecturers, our institution and, most importantly, the future of Kenya's healthcare workforce," Cheruiyot said.

Cheruiyot also commended President William Samoei Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza administration for what he described as continued support for KMTC. "Mr President, your support for KMTC is making a difference. We appreciate your leadership and commitment to building a stronger, more skilled Kenya," he said. The President has previously spoken about the need for more lecturers at KMTC, linking increased teaching capacity to the country's efforts to expand the health workforce and advance Universal Health Coverage.

The latest vacancies provide opportunities for qualified professionals across the health, academic, administrative and technical sectors. KMTC, a State Corporation under the Ministry of Health, plays a major role in training Kenya's middle-level healthcare workforce. The College says its graduates account for more than 85 per cent of the local middle-level health workforce.

Eligible applicants are encouraged to carefully read the official vacancy advertisement, confirm that they meet the stated requirements and submit their applications before the deadline. The full vacancy notice and application information are available through the official KMTC vacancies page.
