Music industry poorer following death of adjudicator Dan Okong’o

The Kenya Music Festivals fraternity is mourning the demise of one of their all-time best adjudicators, Dan Okong’o.

According to teacher Amunga Khakani, one of the Kenya National Music teachers luminaries, the passing of Okombo is a painful one to take. Still, he was content that he had just moved on to another graceful, blessed life.

In his X message, Mwamunga said ”It is with great sorrow that he was shocked to learn about the death of the music icon from the earthly choir to join the angels.

Amunga, who appeared convinced that the late Okong’o did not die but transferred to heaven, lauded him for the incredible work he accomplished in the music industry and specifically his outstanding administration of the Kenya Music Festivals.

He sent his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Okong’o and the Music Festival Fraternity as a whole.

Before joining the Kenya Music Festival team, teacher Okong’o was an exemplary tutor at Asumbi Teachers’ Training College.

His stint in teaching music in schools and colleges has spanned more than four decades, beginning in 1983.

He hailed from the Rusinga Islands in Mbita Constituency, Homa Bay County.
