MCA leads youth in planting more than 2,000 trees

Ibeno Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA ) in Kisii County, Stephen Arika has led youth from his Ward in planting 2,000 trees.

He also asked the youth to make it an annual exercise.

The MCA also asked the youth to avoiding drugs but instead, involve themselves in constructive activities like tree planting and sports.

Speaking at Nyamecheo play grounds in his Ward, the MCA promised to work with the youth in identifying their talents and supporting them.

He took a swipe at adults who heaped too many claims on the youth delinquency but were not ready to provide harmonized programmes to guide them.

The MCA asked the youth to join local Training and Vocational Education Training Institutes (TVETs) in order to acquire skills that will help them get employment to fend for their lives.

“You can have talents in playing soccer or dancing but it is far much better if these talented are blended with professional career,” he said.

He advised them to join the institutes like Kisii and Orogare Institutes which he said have advanced equipment for effective training.

He appealed to young women not to shy off from participating in soccer because the current world advocates for social equality and equity.
