A Maseno University student died from gun wounds he sustained during the country’s opposition party’s protests in Kisumu on Monday.
William Mayange who was a third-year student was pronounced dead in Coptic Hospital where he had been rushed for treatment after he was shot on his neck.
The university students had joined the protestors and put a barricade along the Kisumu Busia Road where they engaged in a tussle with police officers. Police engaged the protestors for hours leading to depletion of teargas canisters prompting the police to use live bullets.
Residents have condemned police of using excessive force by police officers on protestors, they said the constitution allows them to protest.
The opposition leader, Raila Odinga has insisted that there will be mass demonstrations every Monday until the government meets the demands, he had tabled which are lowering of price of goods as majority of citizens can`t meet the extreme prices of the goods.
