The University Academic Staff Union (UASU) has announced the beginning of the new lecturers’ strike in all public universities today at midnight.
Addressing the media on Monday, Wesonga said the strike will commence following the expiration of a seven day notice that UASU and other staff unions had given to the government.
UASU says the move is due to failed talks after a disagreement with the government on execution of the return-to-work formula signed on September 26.
The union Secretary General Constantine Wesonga called members to work today until midnight when they will down their tools.
