The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Busia branch has called for immediate arrest and prosecution for all those who were involve in the brutal murder of Albert Ojwang’.
Speaking at the branch offices yesterday during the candle lighting vigil in memory of Ojwang, Executive Secretary Okisai Moffats demanded that the purported post by Albert perceived as treasonous propaganda, incitement to violence and viewed as hate speech be publicized for scrutiny.
“The teaching fraternity of Busia join other teachers in Kenya in mourning our hero. We strongly believe that injustice to one is injustice to all. We condemn the beastly manner in which our colleague was killed. It’s crystal clear that those entrusted with the responsibility of safeguarding the constitution have taken the lead in raping and disrespecting the very constitution,” said Okisai.

“The principle of sanctity of life has been violated with impunity. Section 26 of our constitution is very explicit. That every person has a right to life, therefore, it’s impermissible to kill a perceived guilty teacher and deprive him of the inherent right to life,” he added.
Okisai reiterated that the perpetrators of the heinous act should be arrested and jailed, adding that justice delayed is justice denied, maintaining that as teachers of Busia, they stand in solidarity with all Kenyan teachers to demand for justice to one of their own.

“Those with classroom keys are not lesser Kenyans to those with keys to the cells. Those who burn midnight oil preparing schemes of work & attend TPD trainings are not subordinate to those who write OB numbers. Freedom of expression is an inalienable right,” said Okisai.
“Albert, you have fought a good fight, kept the faith and finished the race though prematurely. They have killed, the messenger but not the message. We shall continue pushing, Harder, Deeper and Firmer until something beneficial happens. Fare thee well. The bright light of Mzee Ojwang’s family has been dimmed,” he added.
