Kisii teachers appeal to Governor to appoint their own in county top post

By Enock Okong’o

Teachers from Bomachoge Borabu Constituency appealed to Kisii Governor Simba Arati to consider them by appointing one of their own to the county government.

Led by Dennis Onkundi, they said that the Governor had promised to appoint one of their own in the post of the Speaker of the County Assembly. Dennis claims that in the arrangement, the Governor said that the key positions were to be allocated equally among the nine constituencies in the county.

Governor Arati comes from Bobasi Constituency which he represents while his deputy Dr. Richard Monda comes from Nyaribari Chache. Richard Onyonka, the former MP for Kitutu Chache North is now the Kisii Senator. The Women Representative Mrs. Dorice Aburi comes from Bonchari Constituency which makes her constituents feel accommodated in the county government.

“It is with due respect that members of Bomachoge Borabu constituency present their request for the position of the County Speaker. Those from South Mugirango, Nyaribari Masaba and Bomachoge Chache had a good part of their share in the former county government. It is high time now that Bomachoge Borabu constituency gets a post in the new government,” said Geoffrey Mogusu.

The teachers felt that St. Pauls Gekano high School Chief Principal Albert Ombiro would be a better fit as Speaker since he is a good performer in administration work and public relations.

The principal comes from the Bokione clan in Bomachoge Borabu constituency.
