The alumni of Friends School Kaimosi Girls in collaboration with the School Board of Management (BOM) have laid out a foundation to rekindle the institution’s former glory in national examinations.

Speaking at an alumni meeting held at the school compound the BOM chairperson Prof.  Henry Embeywa urged the alumni to consider organizing programmes to aid the efforts of the teachers to revamp the school.

“I ask you to bring resource persons to speak to the students. We shall also bring in exams that will be used to assess the students and enable teachers to help them in weak areas,

“We also want to depend on you to do mentorship for the girls to help them fight off peer influence,” he said.

At the same time, Prof Embeywa announced that they have lined up the distribution of laptops, smartphones, and cash prizes to students who will perform well in the national exams.

Last year the Vihiga County-based school managed a mean grade of 6.38 points in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).

They narrowly fell short in the County’s bigwigs Mbale High which scored 6.7, and Tigoi 6.9 as Bunyore girls led the way having posted a mean score of 8.6.

It managed to take 99 students to university with the top student scoring a B+ (plus), another five B plain and 93 others posting grade C+ (plus).
