School prefects play a critical role in maintaining discipline, order, and leadership within a school. Their responsibilities are far too many since they are elected by learners and vetted by teachers.
They play leadership obligation and act as role Models in the school setting, therefore serve as role models for their peers, demonstrating good behavior, discipline, and leadership skills.
Through their efforts discipline and order prevail in schools.
Prefects do assist teachers with various tasks, such as monitoring classrooms, supervising students, and helping with events that are available in schools
They often represent the school at events, meetings, and functions, promoting the school’s values and image and also provide support and guidance to their peers, helping them navigate academic and personal challenges harmoniously.

However schools have to groom them fully, through proper training and support to help them develop their leadership and communication skills.
They should be held accountable for any excesses in the line of their duties to have a holistic future leader.
The school can also provide regular feedback to help them improve, and also teaching them on decision-making processes.
Teachers also have to establish clear guidelines and expectations for prefects’ roles and responsibilities.
By striking a balance between empowering prefects and ensuring accountability, schools can promote a positive and supportive environment for all students.
Proper teacher-prefects coordination in school result to a disciplined school and better results.
