Uasin Gishu gubernatorial aspirant Zedekiah Bundotich alias Buzeki has promised to employ all ECDE teachers on permanent and pensionable terms once elected.

Speaking to the press, Buzeki said ECDE teachers work hard to mould children yet they are paid peanuts.

“If elected as governor, I will employ over 1,300 ECDE teachers on permanent and pensionable terms. I will also increase their salaries from the current Shs 10,000 to Shs 20,000 to ensure the teachers are compensated for the work they do,” he said.

He promised to ensure that the scheme of service for the ECDE teachers is improved so that the teachers’ lives can be improved.

Uasin Gishu county has over 1300 ECDE teachers who have been employed on a contractual basis for the last nine years.

Governor Jackson Mandago had promised to employ them on permanent and pensionable terms but that didn’t happen.

He also said that his government will introduce a free milk programme to all ECDE pupils in Uasin Gishu county.

“The free milk programme will help prevent absenteeism in schools,” he pointed out.

Buzeki also promised to absorb and train the youth without proper education so that they can form the human resource that will drive the dairy industry.
