Family seeking help from authorities after pastor defile daughter

Family seeking justice in Mechimeru village in Kanduyi constituency Bungoma County after their daughter was allegedly defiled by a church leader.

The family argues that the church leader who resides in the same village did the act but no action has been taken so far.

In an Interview with the press on Tuesday, her mother, stated that the incident happened last year March when she had sent her daughter to pick some items that she uses at her roadside business at Mechimeru market.

She said kept waiting for her daughter for too long, before deciding to take action to make an inquiry from the neighbor if she had spotted her daughter; the neighbor informed that her daughter was seen at the pastor’s homestead.

She told Education News that immediately she was informed about the whereabouts of her daughter she moved with speed to ascertain, noting that on reaching the pastor’s place she spotted her daughter behind the house.

“I was shocked to see my daughter at the pastor’s place, the way that she was behaving I sensed that something was not right,” she said.

She added that at the time of the drama, the pastor’s wife was absent.

She added, “That ‘Mzee’ is known for bad deeds in the village, he has defiled several young girls in the village,”

She said that she reported the incident to Mechimeru police post before she moved to Mechimeru dispensary for the defilement examination.

She says, at Mechimeru facility she was told that the daughter had not been defiled noting that she took an initiative and moved to Bungoma County Referral Hospital (BCRH) where after examination the doctors confirmed that the daughter had been defiled.

She said that after the examination at BCRH she went back to the Mechimeru police post with the facility documents where the police arrested the suspect.

While confirming the incident, area assistant chief, Godfrey Okumu said that he is aware and familiar with the case.

Okumu said that the suspect is known as Luke Luba.

Okumu said that he has received a lot of complaints from villagers alleging that the church leaders have been caught up in many rape, defilement and sodomy scandals.

“I have had many reports that the suspect has the habit of sodomizing his own sons, I’m very tired with such reports, I have left the case for the court to handle it,” Okumu stated.

Okumu also asked relevant authorities to regulate the registration of churches in the country saying that some churches are not instilling good morals to the young generations.
