Construction of Bomet High School, a flagship education project in Bomet Central Constituency, is progressing steadily, with the institution expected to provide additional learning facilities to students in Bomet town and its environs.
Bomet Central MP Richard Kilel said the project will comprise nine modern classrooms, a well-furnished hall, a fully equipped laboratory, a state-of-the-art library and a modern administration block.
The project dates back to March 2024, when President William Ruto visited Bomet County and pledged Sh50 million towards the establishment of a secondary school in Bomet town, following an appeal by Mr Kilel. At the time, the proposed school had not been formally established, prompting the Ministry of Education to designate Tenwek High School as the implementing institution through which the initial funds would be channelled.
The arrangement later attracted scrutiny, with questions raised over the release of Sh50 million to a school that was still being established. Mr Kilel defended the arrangement, saying it was meant to facilitate implementation of the President’s pledge while complying with government financial procedures. Construction subsequently got underway, although the project faced delays amid disagreements over its implementation.

Mr Kilel has since said construction had resumed and was progressing steadily, with the project now taking shape as a major investment in education infrastructure in the constituency.
The nine classrooms are expected to expand learning space at the institution, while the laboratory and library will provide students with facilities to support practical learning and research. The modern administration block and hall will further enhance the school’s capacity to accommodate both academic and co-curricular activities.
The MP said the investment demonstrates the importance of improving education infrastructure and providing learners with a conducive environment for academic development. Once completed, Bomet High School is expected to serve learners from Bomet town and neighbouring areas while helping to address the growing demand for secondary school places in the municipality.
