- KNQA has held a three-day workshop with Kabarak University to strengthen qualifications management under the national qualifications framework.
- The authority has supported the university’s registration as a Qualification Awarding Body and its programmes on the National Qualifications Database.
- Kabarak University has registered71 programmes across seven schools as national qualifications, boosting their recognition and portability.
The Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) is supporting Kabarak University to strengthen its institutional capacity in qualifications management and implementation of the Kenya National Qualifications Framework (KNQF).
The initiative is being undertaken through a three-day capacity-building workshop running from September 23 to 25 at Kabarak University in Nakuru County. The workshop brings together KNQA officials and university representatives to enhance the management, registration and recognition of qualifications within Kenya’s national qualifications system.
The engagement is being led by KNQA Council Chair Stanley Kiptis, while Director Dr Winnie Bulimo, representing the Director General/CEO, is leading a team of officers from the Registration and Accreditation and National Qualifications Database (NQD) departments.

A key focus of the workshop is to facilitate Kabarak University’s registration as a Qualification Awarding Body (QAB). The KNQA team is also supporting the university in registering its programmes and qualifications, as well as graduate records, on the National Qualifications Database in accordance with the KNQF.
According to KNQA, significant progress has already been recorded, with 71 programmes across seven schools at Kabarak University registered as national qualifications. The milestone is expected to enhance the visibility, integrity, recognition and portability of qualifications within Kenya’s national qualifications system.
The engagement reflects KNQA’s commitment to working closely with Qualification Awarding Bodies to promote quality, credibility, transparency and recognition of qualifications.
