The Bomet County Assembly has formalised a partnership with the Kenya Literature Bureau (KLB) that will see the two institutions collaborate on publishing, printing, documentation and information management, with three community libraries in the county also set to benefit.
The agreement, sealed through a Memorandum of Understanding, is expected to strengthen the Assembly’s production of Hansard, committee reports and other official documents by giving it access to KLB’s technical expertise and printing infrastructure.
Deputy Speaker Leonard Rotich described the partnership as a significant step toward strengthening institutional capacity, improving access to information, and enhancing the efficiency of communication and record-keeping within the Assembly. He said KLB’s experience would greatly benefit the Assembly as it works to improve its documentation and information systems.
KLB Chief Executive Officer George Okeyo said the Bureau has a long history of supporting publishing and information needs across the country, and that devolved units stand to benefit immensely from its institutional knowledge and resources.
Beyond its work with the Assembly, Okeyo said KLB has identified community-based corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects in Bomet, announcing that three community libraries across the county would be equipped as part of the Bureau’s CSR activities under the partnership. The initiative is expected to improve access to books and other information resources for residents, particularly in communities served by the libraries.

County Assembly Clerk Isaac Kitur said the agreement would strengthen the institution’s reporting and public information functions, noting that KLB’s support would significantly bolster the Assembly’s capacity to produce high-quality reports for dissemination to citizens. He added that the partnership is also expected to improve record-keeping and the timely dissemination of Assembly information to the public.
KLB is a state corporation under the Ministry of Education, mandated to publish and distribute educational materials and other literary works. The Bureau has worked with national and devolved government institutions for decades, providing publishing, printing and related information services.
