Keiyo South Member of Parliament (MP) Gideon Kimaiyo has warned that parents who have not enrolled their children for Form 1 will be arrested and charged.
Through a social media post seen by Education News, the MP said that all students who sat for the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations should be enrolled in secondary school.
He gave them until Wednesday, February 7, to ensure all their children have reported to school or be risk arrest.
Kimaiyo said that he is working together with the office of DCC and all Chiefs to ensure 100% transition to Form One.
The MP promised to clear school fees for any student who scored 250 marks or above in the 2023 KCPE and only leave shopping expenses to the parents.
Those who scored below 250 marks and were still at home have been directed to report to day schools immediately, which he noted were free of charge.
Kimaiyo said that education is his number one agenda, noting that all students who scored 350 marks and above had already been admitted to various schools across the country.
Earlier, the national government initiated a mop-up exercise countrywide to ensure the realization of the 100 percent transition policy to secondary school.
