Residents of Kajiado North Constituency have placed education at the heart of their development agenda, calling for the construction of more classrooms and science laboratories during recent NGCDF public participation forums.
The meetings, held in Ngong and Rongai, also highlighted security, environmental conservation, and administrative infrastructure as key priorities, underscoring the community’s push for projects that directly improve access to services and strengthen livelihoods. The proposals mark the final stage of constituency consultations, paving the way for the consolidation of residents’ demands into the next NGCDF funding cycle.
Speaking during the meeting, Kajiado North Member of Parliament Onesmus Ngongoyo said public participation had been instrumental in guiding the implementation of NGCDF projects since he took office in 2022, noting that residents’ input ensures development initiatives respond to the constituency’s most pressing needs.
“To tell the truth, I haven’t had a difficult time carrying out my NGCDF projects. I have received tremendous support,” said Ngongoyo.
Ngongoyo credited the successful implementation of NGCDF projects to the active participation of project management committees made up of teachers, chiefs, government officials and residents. He said the committees have strengthened oversight, enhanced accountability and ensured projects are completed in line with community priorities.

The legislator also welcomed the recent Court of Appeal ruling upholding the constitutionality of the NGCDF Act, saying the decision had removed uncertainty surrounding the Fund and paved the way for the uninterrupted implementation of development projects across the constituency.
“Just the other day the Court of Appeal ruled that CDF is constitutional, it is sound, and it has an impact on society. So, we have a clean bill of health from the Court of Appeal,” he said.
School heads attending the forum appealed for more classrooms and laboratories, noting that increased enrollment following the implementation of the 100 per cent transition policy had overstretched existing learning facilities.
Ngongoyo said Kajiado North has one of the highest enrolments in public primary and secondary schools in the country, underscoring the need for continued investment in classrooms, laboratories and other education infrastructure to accommodate the growing student population.
Beyond education, residents proposed projects to improve livelihoods and enhance local infrastructure. Kerarapon Residents Association Secretary Franco Nandabwa urged the NGCDF to support the construction of a boda boda stage in Kerarapon, noting that public participation allows residents to identify and prioritise projects that address the community’s most pressing development needs.
“The MP cannot fully know the people’s needs, and this fund has been doing some great work, for example, in Kerarapon, where I come from,” Nandabwa said.

NGCDF Fund Account Manager Keziah Mureithi outlined the constituency’s development priorities and explained that all proposals submitted during the public participation forums would be assessed based on available funding, ongoing projects and the provisions of the NGCDF Act.
She said the Act requires constituency committees to engage residents in identifying and prioritising development projects before funds are allocated, a process aimed at promoting transparency, accountability and community ownership.
The proposals collected from the Ngong and Rongai public participation forums will be consolidated and reviewed before Kajiado North Constituency finalises its priority project list for the next NGCDF allocation.
