Over 7,000 candidates in Lamu County are set to sit for Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) examinations starting November 28.

The candidates include 3,669 girls and 3,909 boys where 3,702 will sit for KCPE while 3,876 will sit for KPSEA.

Kenya Primary School Heads Association (KEPSHA) Lamu Chairman, Joseph Agutu said he is confident that the candidates are well prepared for the exams despite a number of challenges including the biting drought.

Agutu said they have been on the run to clear the syllabus within the short time that the school calendar had.

“In as much as we have not had enough time to intensely go through the lessons, I am glad that most schools have completed the curriculum and are now revising to ensure they are well equipped for the exams,” Agutu assured.

Agutu added that they have put in place measures to ensure security is upheld throughout the examination period so as to give the students ample time to focus.

KCPE and KPSEA candidates will finish their exams on November 30.
