A 13-year-old football prodigy stole the show during the Wakili Sigei Cup Bomet Central Sub-County finals, held at Silibwet Stadium.

Victor Kiplangat, the dynamic captain of Green Snipers FC, mesmerized the crowd with his skillful display and maturity beyond his years, guiding his team to a resounding 3-0 victory over Kapkoros FC. The win secured Green Snipers a coveted spot in the county finals of the prestigious tournament.

The Wakili Sigei Cup, an initiative by Bomet Senator Wakili Hillary K. Sigei, is a grassroots football competition aimed at discovering, nurturing, and promoting young talent across Bomet County.

Kiplangat, a Grade Eight pupil at Aisaik Junior Secondary School, was named Man of the Match for his commanding presence in midfield. His precise passes, ball control, and leadership on the pitch left fans and scouts in awe.

His outstanding performance caught the attention of talent scouts from Kaplong Boys High School, who offered to sponsor his secondary education as part of their sports scholarship programme.

Green Snipers, who were last year’s runners-up after a narrow 5-4 loss to Kamungei FC, are now eyeing redemption as they prepare for the county finals.

The tournament continues to shine a spotlight on rising stars like Kiplangat, reinforcing the importance of grassroots sports in unlocking potential and transforming lives.
