Bungoma County Governor Wycliffe Wangamati has joined the family and friends in mourning the death of Maralal National School the Principal Wycliffe Kiveu.
Wangamati confirmed that Kiveu succumbed to Covid-19 complications, adding that his death brings the death toll from the disease in the County to 23 people.
Addressing journalists at his office, Wangamati said Kiveu was a good Principal who served with passion and mentored many students and teachers.
He added that Kiveu served within Bungoma County in different capacities and his demise is a big blow to the teaching fraternity.
Wangamati urged residents to go for Covid-19 vaccines, adding that 2,177 teachers in the county have so far been vaccinated.
‘’Teachers have shown a good example by taking the Covid-19 jab. I encourage residents to go for jabs in their nearby health facilities,’’ he said.
Kiveu was the pioneer Principal of of Milo Boys High School in Webuye where he helped the school perform better in national exams.
Elsewhere, Bungoma County Commissioner Samuel Kimiti said he has assured residents that there is enough security in schools during the national exams.
He also asked teachers manning exams to follow the Covid-19 guidelines.
