The administration of Friends Vihiga Senior School, formerly Vihiga High School, has issued a public alert over an individual allegedly impersonating a student and using the school uniform to solicit money from unsuspecting members of the public.
The school administration said the individual has reportedly been approaching members of the public, particularly in Nairobi, while dressed in the school uniform and claiming to be a student in need of financial assistance to pay school fees. In a statement, the school clarified that the person is not a student of Friends Vihiga Senior School and has neither the authority nor permission to collect money or seek financial assistance on behalf of the institution or any of its students.
The administration has consequently cautioned members of the public against giving money to anyone making such appeals while wearing the school uniform. The school urged anyone who encounters the suspected impersonator to avoid confrontation and, where appropriate, report the matter to the nearest police station and notify the school administration.

The alert comes amid concerns over individuals exploiting the identity of learning institutions to obtain money from members of the public through fraudulent appeals. The school has appealed to members of the public, particularly the Nairobi community, to share the alert widely to help prevent unsuspecting people from falling victim to the alleged con artist. The administration further urged the public to exercise caution and verify any claims of school fees assistance directly with the institution before making any financial contribution.
