- Veteran educationist Philip Lekakeny Ole Limpaso has retired after more than 35 years in Kenya’s education sector.

Veteran educationist Philip Lekakeny Ole Limpaso has officially retired after more than 35 years of dedicated service in Kenya’s education sector.
A colourful retirement ceremony held at his home in Poroko, Kilgoris Constituency, brought together family members, friends, former students, teachers, education stakeholders and community leaders to celebrate his remarkable career.
Among those who attended the event were Kilgoris MP Julius Sunkuli, KUPPET Executive Secretary Saruni Tasur, KNUT Trans Mara Branch Executive Secretary Rodgers Limpaso, school principals, education officers and other local leaders.
Limpaso began his career as a classroom teacher at Shartuka Secondary School before steadily rising through the ranks to serve as headmaster, headteacher, District Education Officer, lecturer, principal of teachers’ training colleges and, eventually, Chief Principal of Kilgoris Boys National School.
Throughout his career, he earned a reputation as a visionary education leader who championed academic excellence, discipline and holistic learner development.
His contribution extended beyond school administration through mentoring teachers, school leaders and education professionals across the country.
Tributes pour in
Speaking during the ceremony, Julius Sunkuli described Limpaso as one of the region’s finest educationists.
“Philip Lekakeny Ole Limpaso has served this country with distinction and dedication. Through his work, he transformed lives, strengthened institutions and inspired generations of learners. His legacy reminds us that education remains the most powerful tool for transforming society,” he said.
KNUT Trans Mara Branch Executive Secretary Rodgers Limpaso described the retiree as a role model whose influence would continue long after leaving active service.
“Limpaso’s career has been marked by professionalism, integrity and a deep commitment to nurturing both learners and teachers. Many education leaders today are beneficiaries of his mentorship. We celebrate a giant in the education sector whose impact will continue to be felt for generations,” he said.
Speakers praised Limpaso for his humility, discipline and dedication to public service, noting that his contribution to education cannot be measured solely by the positions he held but also by the thousands of lives he positively influenced throughout his career.
As he begins retirement, education stakeholders described the occasion not as the end of a career but as the celebration of an enduring legacy built over three and a half decades of service to the nation.
For more than 35 years, Philip Lekakeny Ole Limpaso dedicated his life to shaping learners, empowering educators and strengthening educational institutions.
