Police in Nyamira North Sub-county have arrested two secondary school boys for getting into the Boda boda business.

According to the area Boda boda chairman Dominic Babu, his colleagues acted on a tipoff from the public and alerted the police, who arrested and took the boys to Keroka Police Station.

The arrest follows a recent decree by the local Boda boda organization, which prohibited students from getting involved in the business of transporting passengers and goods within their jurisdiction.

“We had agreed as a sub-county to stop students from Boda boda operations at the expense of their studies. We arrested and confiscated their motorcycles and took them to the police station,” he said.

The chairman asked parents of the two students to report to the police station to sort out the matter.

Keroka Township chief Kennedy Ndege lauded the Boda boda operatives for the step they took, saying that their arrest will send a stern warning to students who could be contemplating to violate the law instead of concentrating on their holiday studies.
